Amok Steamed Fish is a famous Cambodian specialty. The main ingredients to make the dish are fresh lake snakehead fish, catfish or snakehead fish. The flavor of the fish dish is typical of this country's cuisine with a sauce made from eggs, ginger, prahok fish sauce and palm sugar. The mixture of fish and sauce is then put into a "bowl" made of banana leaves to steam, underneath is lined with star gooseberry leaves, noni leaves or rainbow leaves. When served to diners, Amok Steamed Fish will be covered with a layer of rich, fragrant coconut milk on top.
